Well, it’s now a tradition! Once a year our little homegrown jazz group puts on a Jazz Sunday at our house in Sunset Canyon. Our group gets together regularly to play, on alternate Sundays. Currently the group consists of:
-
John Hoag – Piano – a California-transplant CPA
-
Steve Koppell – Sax – a psychiatrist from, most recently Santa Fe
-
Michael Minnis – Guitar – writer for the daytime series “Bold and the Beautiful”
-
James Minor – Drums – a software engineer
-
Phil Auldridge – Bass and Hammond B3 organ – gainfully unemployed
We were joined on Sunday by the beautiful voice of Meriah, as well as a great rendition of “Corcorvado” by my own queen, Dorothee!
Some 60+ friends and neighbors joined us on an absolutely perfect, sunny yet cool Texas fall day. There was plenty of food, drinks, comaraderie, and good music. It was later in the evening when the last folks finally moved on down the road! Special thanks have to be given to our good friends Howard and Kerrie, temporarily residing with us, and my best sister, Lee Ann and hubby Larry, who showed up Saturday afternoon just in time to be pressed into serious service in pre-party preparation (is that what they call an alliteration?).
Unfortunately, we did not take any videos from this year’s “performance” however, here are a couple of snippets from the 2007 Jazz in the Canyon:

Now it seems that Dorothee is talking about a Fall AND Spring Jazz in the Canyon celebration. Standby for next spring!

Spring? Pleeeeease?
