In 2002 I had the great thrill to participate in a 3-day Skip Barber racing course held at Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey California. Ironically, after living in Monterey for almost 10 years, I rarely visited the raceway, or attended the Pebble Beach Concours. It was only after Dorothee and I had moved thousands of miles away to Hawaii that I got the bug to do some racing and signed up for the Laguna Seca course.
The video below was taken from the cockpit of my assigned race-purpose-built Formula Dodge car.. estimated speeds on the final straight at well over 100 mph. Every time I watch this I am reminded what a thrill I got from driving on one of the world’s most celebrated tracks. Now, years later, I can still vividly imagine every single one of the turns on that track!
