In the spring of 2014 Dorothee and I took a trip to South Africa to visit our good friends Roley and Ina Noffke, who live on the outskirts of Johannesburg. It is a fatiguing trip… 19 hours flight time from Washington D.C. to Johannesburg, including a short fuel stop at Dakar, Senegal.
We traveled via air with Roley, Ina, and Ina’s 91 year old mother (who was amazingly spry) to Kasane, Botswana, located on the Chobe River, just adjacent to the huge Chobe National Game Park. Later, we drove by highway to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Ina and Roley were the perfect hosts, and showed us an unforgettable experience of the African continent.
